Overview
The institute including its sector was established upon the Prime Minister's resolution in 30-10-2013. The sector activates the institute's role in limiting societal problems and contributes to development issues.
Objectives
The Fish Farming and Technology Institute aims to achieve a set of strategic goals and objectives including:
- Preparing specialized human energies in marine biology, food technology, fish, and environmental sciences to contribute to preparing specialized human cadres in the related fields and caring for the environment, and protecting them from the dangers of pollution to meet the needs of society and relevant departments and institutions.
- Qualifying specialized cadres in the field of marine biology with respect to their fishing, cultivation, development, and conservation.
- Qualifying specialized cadres in the field of food and fish technology with regard to their manufacture, canning, and preparation.
- Contributing to providing knowledge and participating in seminars, conferences, and scientific courses.
- Opening the fields of training and preparing the various technical cadres able to contribute to local and national development programs.
- Strengthening cooperation with private, national, regional, and international scientific institutions and societies.
- Promoting cooperation with local and foreign universities and scientific centers.
- Conducting and preparing scientific research and studies for international publication.
- Providing scientific and technical consultations and technical services in the fields of environmental science and pollution, ways to protect the environment, assessing the environmental impact, optimizing the use of marine fisheries, and developing fishing methods and food and fish technology for the relevant authorities in society.
