The Research Unit

The Research Unit of the Institute was established in 2015 with the aim of using it in conducting research experiments to graduate students in various fields of aquaculture, such as the production of aquatic hatcheries and biotechnology in aquaculture, food and nutrition in aquaculture, and fisheries technology. Hence, it can be widely applied in fish farms and work to improve the efficiency of fish farming in the Suez Canal region, which in turn will be reflected in the promotion of fish wealth in that region in particular and Egypt in general. The unit contains two systems:
Aquaponics
This system combines traditional aquaculture such as fish of all kinds in technologies and agriculture in water (plant cultivation in water) in a symbiotic environment. In the case of aquaculture systems in the normal way, the secretions of aquatic creatures increase causing them to accumulate in the water, and increase the toxicity of these organisms. While in Aquaponics system, the aquaculture system is fed with water from the aquaculture system, where the secondary products are decomposed by bacteria to nitrates and nitrites, which are used by plants as nutrients, then the water returns to the aquaculture system.
The central system uses Fiberglass Tank
These technologies consist of glass-reinforced plastics or thermoplastic elastomers such as polyester or vinyl ester, a substance consisting of glass-reinforced plastics, the common name of which is fiberglass. Currently, these technologies are used in the field of fish farming in different countries. Therefore, the Institute is distinguished by the presence of these technologies and the conduct of all different experiments of various disciplines in the field of aquaculture and fish technology.
