Awareness Lecture on Environment and Marine Life as Part of Environmental Week at the Fish Farming and Technology Institute
As part of the third day of Environmental Week organized by the Fish Farming and Technology Institute at Suez Canal University, a scientific and awareness-raising lecture was delivered on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, by Prof. Dr. Gamal Gomaa Madani, Professor of Wildlife in the Department of Wildlife at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Suez Canal University, and Secretary-General of the Arab Union for the Protection of Wildlife and Marine Life.
The lecture, titled “Preserving Our Marine Treasures and Natural Wealth in Egyptian Waters,” explored the concept of the environment and its components, explained the food chain, and emphasized the importance of preserving the environment as a whole. Special focus was given to biodiversity and the protection of wildlife and marine ecosystems, highlighting that marine environments represent a national treasure that must be safeguarded.
Dr. Madani also discussed Egypt’s unique environmental features—thanks to its geographical, historical, and biological significance—and its wealth of rare natural resources. He noted that Egypt serves as a vital corridor for migratory birds and a breeding ground for many terrestrial and marine species.
The lecture further addressed Egypt’s natural reserves, which currently number around 30, encouraging attendees to enhance their environmental awareness and explore Egypt’s natural wealth through visits to these reserves. He particularly recommended reserves such as Taba, Ras Mohammed, Wadi El Rayan, and Wadi Degla due to their exceptional biodiversity and ecological importance.
