"President of Suez Canal University Visits the Fish Farming and Technology Institute to Review Operations and Assess Future Needs"
As part of his support for the university’s educational and research institutions, His Excellency Prof. Dr. Nasser Mandour, President of Suez Canal University, conducted an inspection visit to the Fish Farming and Technology Institute in Ismailia. The purpose of the visit was to follow up on the workflow and review the challenges and needs currently facing the Institute.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Tabie, Dean of the Institute, welcomed the University President, along with the Vice Deans Prof. Dr. Sami Abdel Malek Mohamed and Prof. Dr. Mervat Ali Mohamed, the Institute Secretary Mrs. Jehan Ezzat, and several faculty members and teaching assistants.
The tour included visits to the hatchery units and aquaculture departments, in addition to the research and educational laboratories specialized in fish technology. The University President reviewed the equipment and technologies used in aquaculture operations and discussed with the Institute team potential strategies for improving infrastructure and strengthening collaboration with industrial and agricultural sectors to better align scientific research with market needs.
During the visit, Prof. Dr. Nasser Mandour emphasized that the Fish Farming and Technology Institute is a strategic pillar of the university, given the growing importance of aquaculture in Egypt—especially in light of the state’s direction toward maximizing fishery resources to achieve food security.
He stated: “We are committed to overcoming all obstacles facing the Institute, whether in terms of funding or technological development, to ensure that it fulfills its mission of graduating qualified professionals and conducting applied research that serves society.”
For his part, Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Tabie provided a detailed overview of the Institute’s recent achievements and highlighted key challenges, including the need to upgrade some research units and secure additional financial support to complete ongoing development plans.
The visit comes as part of a broader plan to inspect all university faculties and institutes during the current academic semester, with the aim of enhancing the quality of education and research.
